Our take...

The Days Inn Vancouver Airport is a brand new hotel located on Sexsmith and Bridgeport - only five minutes from Vancouver International Airport. There are two accessible rooms that offer accommodating features for persons in wheelchairs. Some accessible features are available for persons with visual or hearing challenges. Two spacious handicap parking spots can be found within close proximity to the underground entrance. This entrance does not have power entry doors, but the front entrance on the west side of the building does. The lobby is spacious and has strong colour contrast between walls and the floor. Public washrooms can be found on the main floor, including one individual handicap washroom with wheelchair friendly accessories. Signage is printed gold on black and in tactile and brail format. A large elevator leads from the lobby to the accessible rooms. It comes with lit buttons with brail and visual and audible floor announcements. Rooms have brail and tactile signage with gold on black colour contrast. Doors are wide for wheelchair access and have lowered peepholes. Closets rods are lowered and washrooms are extra large. Washrooms come with raised toilets and grab bars, shower benches and detachable showerheads and grab bars, and roll under sinks with levered handles. Locks are one hand operable. Beds are roughly 29 in. but staff will remove the frame under box spring to allow easy transfers from a wheelchair if needed. Phones inside rooms have volume control, and TVs have Closed Captioning. A free deluxe Continental breakfast is available in the lounge off the main lobby. There is also a fitness room on the second floor that is partially accessible.
