Green Acres Golf Course is located on No. 6 Road in Richmond. Although they do not offer an adapted golf program, disabled golfers are welcome. If golfing isn’t your game, the scenic property still has much to offer. The building is reasonably wheelchair accessible, and if guests call ahead of time, accommodations can be made to ensure that barriers are removed. There is partial access without calling ahead of time, as there is a spacious patio at ground level with a stunning view of the serene setting of lakes and greenery; additionally, a ground level dining area can be accessed inside. Both are quick wheels away from clearly marked handicap parking, and the sidewalks offer little in the way of barriers. Beyond the patio area and leading towards the pro shop, some pathways become challenging, as they are broken and uneven at parts. To access handicap washrooms, guests will need to ask someone to unlock the accessible entrance - located atop a smooth, gradual ramp.
Once the accessible entrance has been opened, there is a spacious handicap washroom equipped with a raised toilet seat and grab bars. The washroom also has a tilted mirror, and a roll-under sink with lever handles. The public washrooms also can accommodate persons in chairs, as they have designated handicap stalls and accessible accessories. Also on this floor are the pro shop, main restaurant area, and banquet room. The banquet room is available for rent for special occasions and offers a portable bar and a patio with a tranquil view of the golf course. Access in and out of the pro shop is difficult for persons in a wheelchair.
Green Acres has something for everyone, whether it be testing your skills on the links or just enjoying a relaxing bite or drink in a quiet setting with an inspiring view.
